The power of good food! Choose natures antidepressant. Feel good now.

I love reading about the power of great food and re-inspiring myself everyday to see food as way to love and nurture myself instead of simply counting calories and trying to figure out how to manage my weight.

Since every single person in this world has to deal with food and their relationship to it, I think that keeping in mind how there is so much healing power and pleasure we can have by choosing foods from our hearts not just our old habits or from our mind, we can live a life we love in a body we love and feel really good.

When we deprive ourself of good food we deprive ourself of feeling good. My belief is that when you start to fill your body up with what it needs, what it wants and what is real you will simply not want to indulge in eating habits that deprive you of it. If you pay attention to how you feel after you eat and you hold the intention to feel good, not simply for the 30 seconds that the food is in your mouth but afterwards as well, you will see how it becomes easier and easier to choose foods that improve your life.

Today practice choosing food that will feed your heart, body and your mind. Don't deprive yourself of health and vitality. Feed your body well. The purpose of making changes is to add pleasure to your life so see what changes you can make today that will add longterm pleasure to your life. I suggest you add blueberries.

I was recently looking over a book on super foods. I mentioned it before, it is called superfoods RX and it goes into great detail about the healing qualities of foods and it inspired me to share with you some of the information.  I loved blueberries before but now I have a whole new appreciation for them.  Here are just a few of the highlights of blueberries and I hope you will add them to your grocery list and enjoy the taste and the benefit of these beautifying superfoods!

All kinds of berries are packed with power and nutrition and a low amount of sugar so they are all great choices but blueberries, especially wild, organic blueberries, will give you more than what you have paid for!

Blueberries
Have more disease fighting antioxidants than any other food
Antioxidants help prevent aging
Lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer
Can improve brain function by slowing down the aging of the brain
Boost your immune system by raising hemoglobin and oxygen concentration in the blood
They are said to be a great natural antidepressant
They help prevent sagging skin

Eat 1-2 cups daily
make a smoothie
add to your yogurt
mix with other fruit and nuts as a snack
grab a handful in the afternoon to refresh and refuel
add to cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, breads, muffins

My personal favorite blueberry snack:
Nonfat plain yogurt
Blueberries
sprinkled with raw cacao nibs and chopped walnuts
Agave
Make, sit, eat, enjoy.
love,
Patricia
